We do not ask for your email address on this site. There is no newsletter signup form, no registration wall, and no lead-capture field anywhere on these pages. If your contact information exists in our records, it arrived through a separate process outside this publication.
What we track and why
This site loads a resolution pixel on each article page. The pixel records which stories are read. We use that information for two purposes: to understand what coverage is useful to this audience, and to attach a record of any permission you have granted to your contact record if one exists. The pixel does not follow you to other websites. It operates only on pages within this publication.
No third-party advertising trackers run on these pages. We do not sell, rent, or share reading behavior with advertisers or data brokers.
How consent is recorded
If you are presented with a permission request and you grant it, we record a consent receipt at that moment. The receipt is timestamped, tied to the specific permission requested, and written in a way that cannot be altered after the fact. You will not be asked to accept broad or vague terms. The record reflects exactly what you agreed to and when.
If you withdraw permission, that withdrawal is recorded the same way: timestamped, specific to the permission being withdrawn, and immutable. Withdrawal does not erase the original consent record, because that record is a factual account of what happened. Both records exist together, and the withdrawal governs what we do from that point forward.
You can withdraw any permission you have granted at any time. There is no penalty for doing so.
What we do not do
We do not run behavioral retargeting. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not use cookies to track you across other sites. We do not share your reading history with third parties for commercial purposes.
